New Mile Markers on the Great Allegheny Passage

Riders of the Maryland section of the Great Allegheny Passage will be delighted to see that new granite mile markers were installed this week. The first 11 new mile markers can be found heading west out of Cumberland, MD.

The mileposts are made from granite which was reclaimed from the Longfellow Bridge in Boston, MA. Over the next few months more than 130 more stone mile markers will be installed all the way to Pittsburgh, PA.

This is the third time I have encountered this friendly kitty just west of Meyersdale, PA. He seems to have set up permanent residence!
